Occupational disability insurance
Anyone who can no longer permanently practise their occupation due to illness, accident or loss of strength loses their income. The statutory reduced earning capacity pension is usually insufficient for this and is subject to stricter conditions. Occupational disability insurance pays an agreed monthly pension if the insured event has occurred in accordance with the policy conditions.
The quality of a policy is revealed in the details: in the waiver of abstract referral to another occupation, in the definition of the insured event, in options to increase cover without a new health assessment and in a term that extends to the planned retirement date.
Answer health questions carefully
Before the contract is concluded, the insurer asks questions about your health. These must be answered completely and truthfully, because incorrect information can jeopardise insurance cover. We support you in preparing the answers carefully and, if necessary, can first submit anonymous preliminary risk enquiries to several insurers.
Term life insurance
Term life insurance pays an agreed sum to the surviving dependants in the event of death. It is a comparatively inexpensive way of protecting families, life partners or business partners – for example, when a household depends on one income or a property is being financed. We align the sum insured and the term with your actual needs.
Retirement provision via insurance
For retirement provision, we arrange insurance solutions such as private pension insurance and the Basisrente (basic pension). We explain guarantees, costs, flexibility and the option of a lifelong pension. We do not arrange investment funds or other financial investments under § 34f GewO (Gewerbeordnung, German Trade Regulation Act). We coordinate tax questions relating to provision with your tax adviser.
Everything in one overall picture
Occupational disability cover, protection for surviving dependants and retirement provision are interrelated. Someone financing a property, for example, needs a different combination from a single person at the start of their working life. We therefore do not look at individual products, but at your entire situation, including entitlements from the statutory pension insurance and any existing occupational pension scheme.
The result is a clear overview of which risks are covered and to what extent, and where action is needed.
Frequently asked questions
When is a person considered occupationally disabled?
This is governed by the insurance conditions. It is often required that the most recently practised occupation is expected to be no longer practicable to an extent of at least 50 per cent for at least six months. We will show you the exact wording of your offer.
Is occupational disability insurance also worthwhile for office jobs?
Yes. A large proportion of claims are based on illnesses, not on physical strain. In addition, the premium for office jobs is often lower.
What is a preliminary risk enquiry?
An enquiry to the insurer without giving your name, which clarifies on what terms a policy would be possible in view of your state of health – before an application is submitted.
