Pitch deck and pitch training

In the pitch, it is often decided within a short time whether an investor will look more closely at your project. Content, structure and presentation must fit together for this.

What a pitch deck is

The pitch deck is a compact presentation that introduces your company to investors. It is shown at the personal meeting and also sent in advance or afterwards. It does not replace the business plan but condenses its key messages to the essentials.

A good deck follows a clear narrative: initial problem, solution, market, business model, progress, team, financial planning and capital requirement. Each slide answers a question that an investor would ask.

Typical structure

The exact order depends on your project and your strengths. A team with outstanding experience presents the team earlier; a company with already measurable demand moves the key figures to the front.

  • Problem and target group
  • Solution and value proposition
  • Market and competition
  • Business model and sales strategy
  • Progress to date and KPIs (key performance indicators)
  • Team
  • Financial planning in outline
  • Capital requirement and use of funds

Clarity before design

An appealing design is helpful but does not replace clear statements. We work on the messages first: what should the investor know after each slide? Which figure supports this statement? Only then does the design follow, supporting the content rather than distracting from it.

Consistency with your financial model is particularly important. Discrepancies between the deck and the planning are noticed immediately by experienced readers and cost trust.

Likewise, the slide on capital requirement and use of funds should show exactly what the money raised will be used for and which milestones are to be achieved with it. Investors want to be able to understand what state the company will be in when the funds have been used up.

Pitch Training

The best slide deck is of little use if the presentation is too long, too technical or delivered without confidence. In pitch training we rehearse the presentation in different formats, from a short introductory meeting to a detailed presentation followed by discussion.

One focus is on the questions that come after the presentation: critical follow-up questions on assumptions, competition, valuation or the team. Those who are prepared for them answer calmly and objectively and leave a confident impression.

Frequently asked questions

How many slides should a pitch deck have?

There is no fixed rule. Compact versions that confine themselves to the essential questions have proven effective. Supplementary details belong in an appendix or the data room.

Do we need different versions of the deck?

Often, yes. A version to be sent out must be understandable without explanation; a version for the presentation may be more concise, because you explain it yourself.

Do you also take care of the graphic design?

Our focus is on content, structure and figures. We are happy to support coordination with a design agency or your own designer.
