Territories and Routes

In field sales, the order of visits often determines whether a day allows three or five worthwhile appointments. Terminauticus therefore combines scheduling and geography.

Clear responsibilities by territory

Sales territories can be defined in Terminauticus and assigned to individual employees or teams. When an enquiry comes in, it is immediately apparent in whose territory the customer is located. This avoids coordination effort and ensures that enquiries are not left unattended because nobody feels responsible.

If responsibilities change – for instance because an employee leaves or a territory is redivided – the territories can be adjusted without existing files being lost.

Scheduling appointments where the field sales team already is

When an appointment is being arranged, Terminauticus shows which appointments an employee already has near the customer on a given day. The back office can thus offer specific time slots that fit into a sensible route, instead of sending the field sales team criss-crossing the territory.

This has a direct effect on profitability: less driving time means more time with customers, lower vehicle costs and less strain on employees.

Route planning for recurring assignments

In addition to sales appointments, many businesses have recurring assignments, such as maintenance, inspection visits or follow-up care. These, too, can be grouped by territory and combined into routes.

The planning takes into account which assignments are due and which employees are available in which territory. Dispatch receives a proposal which it can review and adjust if necessary – the decision remains with people.

Overview for dispatch and management

A geographical display of appointments and territories makes it easier to identify bottlenecks and gaps. Where are enquiries accumulating for which no appointment is available in the foreseeable future? In which territories is capacity going unused? Such questions can be answered at a glance at the planning, without having to merge lists.

On this basis, management can decide whether territories should be redrawn, additional employees deployed or enquiries generated more specifically in certain regions. The software provides the basis for this; the business decision is made by the management.

Frequently asked questions

Can a territory be assigned to several employees?

Yes. Territories can be assigned to individual employees or teams and redivided as required.

Are files lost when territories are changed?

No. The files are retained and assigned to the new responsibility.

Does the software plan routes on its own?

Terminauticus creates proposals on the basis of due dates and territories. Dispatch reviews these proposals and makes the final decision.

Can recurring assignments such as maintenance also be planned?

Yes. Recurring assignments that are due can be grouped by territory and combined into routes. Dispatch receives a proposal which it reviews, adjusts and approves.
